In order for the treatment to be successful, patients must make as much effort as the doctor. It should not be forgotten that it is very important to maintain adequate oral hygiene throughout the treatment. Otherwise, it should be known that brushing teeth will become more difficult as wires enter the mouth, plaque accumulation around the teeth will become easier, and the risk of tooth decay will increase. However, with good oral hygiene, tooth decay can be prevented during orthodontic treatment. Brackets transmit the force to the teeth during treatment. Since the force transmission to the teeth will be interrupted as a result of the breakage of the brackets, the duration of braces treatment is prolonged. The patient must be careful about what he eats to prevent the brackets from breaking. Nothing should be bitten off, everything should be put into the mouth in bites. You should eat soft foods as much as possible, and the shells and seeds of foods with shells or seeds should be removed outside the mouth. If the remaining part is still hard, it should be sliced thinly or grated. Sticky foods such as chewing gum, Turkish delight and acidic drinks should be avoided.
